are common, they are used to restore a tooth after removing the decay that occurs with a cavity. At Bird Family Dentistry, we use a Composite filling that is tooth-colored, helping it to blend in with your remaining tooth. The Composite is made up of a mixture of glass filler in a resin, meaning it is strong enough to handle daily wear.
Reasons For Composite Fillings
||Filling small to medium sized cavities after decay is removed.
||Repairing a chipped anterior (front) tooth.
Advantages of Composite Fillings
Composite fillings are durable and resistant to fracture in normal wear. Dr. Bird is also able to remove less of your tooth structure compared to the traditional amalgam or metal filling.
Composite fillings are known to bond to the tooth, giving you a more conservative repair
Other Uses for Composites
Dr. Bird commonly uses Composite Fillings to repair front teeth that have chipped or worn. This is a much less expensive treatment than Veneers or Crowns, but also does not have the life expectancy. It's a great product in a pinch, just not in the long term.
After your tooth has been restored and filled, you may find the area to be sensitive for a little while, this is typical. If the sensitivity persists for a week or more it is important to call our Tacoma, WA office for an examine and allow Dr. Bird to determine if additional treatment is needed.
