replace missing teeth
using a metal device. The metal device is a titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone. Acting as the root, this screw can then have a crown
placed on top giving you the look and feel of your natural tooth. This implant is permanent.
Dental Implants offer you a permanent fix for that tooth
without messing with bridges
. Fix it and forget about it. Implants are surgically placed below the gums and with time, the implants will fuse to the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, serving as a base for individual replacement teeth. This may also be necessary before Dr. Bird is able to place a bridges or a denture. He will discuss your options with you.
Reasons For Dental Implants
||Keep the look and feel of a real tooth where one is missing.
||Maintain healthy bone levels: When you are missing teeth, your bone starts to recede due to the loss of stimulation in that spot.
||Help support dentures: It will always be more comfortable for you to have teeth to attach dentures to, if you are missing all of your teeth, dental implants can give you that strong base.
What does a dental implant involve?
The Dental Implant ProcedureDr. Bird prepares the gum by opening the bone area where the implant will be placed. If he finds that there is insufficient bone structure, he may suggest bone grafting. With healthy bone, a special drill is used to prepare the bone to receive the implant. The implant is then placed and the tissue is sutured. The healing process takes three to six months. During this time, the titanium screw actually becomes part of the bone through a process called osseointegration. After healing, Dr. Bird will attach a new porcelain crown to the implant.
