Have you found the right toothbrush yet? The one that will effectively clean your mouth and keep you comfortable at the same time? Sometimes we are using the wrong brush and it is causing harm to our oral health. Learn how to pick the right toothbrush for optimal oral health!
Stop Using Hard Bristles
It used to be thought that hard bristles were better because they provided your mouth with a "better" clean. Today, however, it is shown that hard bristles can actually harm your gums, causing them to recede. If you are combining hard bristles with immense pressure, you could even damage your enamel. It is better to choose softer bristles that will clean just as effectively.
Choose the Right Toothbrush Head
The head of the toothbrush should not be so large that it cannot comfortably fit in your mouth. This does not mean just fitting in the opening of your mouth, but all the way back to your posterior teeth. It should be able to comfortably maneuver into every area of your mouth to ensure a good cleaning.
Choose what is Convenient for You Electronic toothbrushes are not necessarily better than manual toothbrushes; it is all in the technique that you use. Even the fanciest toothbrush will not do you any good if you do not brush all of your teeth and all areas of your mouth. If you prefer the convenience or the feeling of an electronic toothbrush, then that is the right choice for you, but it is not a necessity.
